The all-new Maruti Suzuki DZire 2017 is set for an official launch on 16th May, and we can’t wait for it any more. The new DZire 2017 has been around for quite some time now, starting from the camouflage avatars to the leaked images and then the official showcase, which was held a few days back. The official booking for Maruti DZire 2017 has started and you need to shell out just Rs. 11,000 to book yours.
The Maruti Suzuki DZire belongs to the sub-four meter sedan segment, which is one of the most competitive segments in India. The DZire faces tough competition from Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest, Tata Tiago, Ford Figo Aspire, and more, but still has been successful in attracting buyers towards it. And now the updated version; DZire 2017 with new cosmetic tweaks and added features is going to take over the segment with a storm.
Here, we are going to compare the all-new Maruti Suzuki DZire 2017 with the outgoing 2015 Swift DZire to find out whether the DZire 2017 is worth an update or not.
Maruti DZire 2017 vs. Maruti Swift DZire 2015
Exterior Design
The all-new DZire 2017 is not only an updated version, but a complete face-lift version too. The exterior design and styling of new DZire has been inspired from the international-spec Swift and Maruti Baleno, which now gives it a premium look. The new DZire is based on the Suzuki’s Liquid Metal flow design formula, which we have already seen on the Baleno and new-gen Swift 2017. The generic lines as seen on the old DZire have been escaped on the new DZire.
The updated variant is 3,995mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,515mm high, which is 40mm wider and 40mm shorter than the outgoing model. The increased width will provide a better road presence to the new DZire.
On the front, there is a new ‘Impact Design grille’ with thick chrome bezel, which matches the aesthetics. The all-new LED headlamps, LED DRLs, chrome highlighted bumper on the front adds a star to the overall looks of this sedan. The rear too has a new LED light guides, new tail-lamps and chrome highlights on boot lid for a premium look. Also, the boot on new DZire 2017 has been increased from 315L to 376L, which still needs an improvement.
Interiors, Safety & Infotainment System
Just like the exteriors, the interior design and styling in new DZire 2017 has also been completely revamped. The interiors of new DZire 2017 now look more cleaner and premium than the outgoing model. The buttons for automatic climate control, HVAC vents, chrome rings for instrument dials, instrument binnacles and more have a polygon-themed design for a fresh look.
The quality of material used on the dashboard, AC vents and control buttons on new DZire is much superior to the old DZire. The new flat-bottom steering wheel, door cards and the dashboard gets wood ornamentation for luxury touch. The DZire 2017’s cabin is now more spacious than before. There is more shoulder room and leg room for both front and rear occupants.
For your safety, the new DZire 2017 sports front dual-airbags and anti-braking system (ABS) as a standard feature across all trims.
The new DZire also gets a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink connectivity, which was missing on the old Swift DZire.
Engine & Gearbox
There is no change in the engine department in the Maruti DZire 2017. It carries the same engines which powers the outgoing 2015 Maruti Swift DZire. Maruti Suzuki will continue to use the tried and tested 1.2litre K-series Petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. The 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine produces 83.14bhp of power at 6000rpm and 115NM of torque. While the 1.3-litre diesel engine produces 74bhp of power and 190Nm of torque at 2000rpm.
Both the diesel and petrol engine variants will carry a 5-speed manual gearbox. And the new DZire 2017 will also get a 5-speed automatic gearbox (optional) on a petrol variant, which will replace the outgoing 4-speed automatic variant.
